There is something very beautiful about fog. When we see people walking in the fog, it is impossible to discern who they are or what they may be doing. There is a mystery about fog. And it can feel frightening and exciting, because it feels as if anything can happen. Everything is very unclear. Yet it is inviting and the air moist and often pleasing and even soothing. Now when things are clear, everything is seen. People’s expressions, their actions and who they are, are all revealed. So, unfortunately with the human condition, there is room for judgement when there is clarity. Now this may be the reason some people prefer to keep their head in the clouds, or to live a life that feels a bit muddled. There is no reason to look clearly within at our choices or actions. Just a simple float through each day’s journey, will suffice. And many fear the light and they fear judgement. Because when the light comes, and shines on a soul, the fog dissipates and everything is seen. Every blemish, every fault, every dark mark. In addition, most people do not even know that they hold a fear of judgement. But it’s true that mainly, people really care what other folks think. We are culturally cultivated to conform to society in ways that present this reality. It starts when we are young and grows with us.But there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1) So, we need not fear the light, but we need to get right with God. We need to be able to invite the light of Jesus Christ into our hearts. When we become believers and Christ enters our hearts, we leave everything at the foot of the cross. Our past, present, and future sins. They are no longer in the way of judgement. Every freedom we have ever longed for lives here. With the cross as our cornerstone, we no longer need to live in the fog. We can have clarity every day of our lives with a walk in Truth that shines brightly from within. Life is short and very temporary. There is so much more freedom to experience and see than when we walk in the fog. By receiving what Christ did for us on the cross and his sacrifice, we are connected to God, in new life. With freedom from judgement. We then know that as we walk out our purpose in this life, we do not need to fear. We can come boldly to the throne of grace. (Hebrews 4:16)
